Eye Camp @ Perambur

For the Sai Youth of Chennai, 21st December 2008 was a day to realize once again, the significance of these golden words of Bhagawan andEye Camo relish the ambience of His Love and His Mission.

With His Immense Grace and Mercy, He guided us to organize and conduct an "eye camp" at Perambur Village, in Tiruvallur District near Chennai. The villagers in and around this village responded enthusiastically to the 5 hour camp and poured in great numbers to have their eye checked up by efficient and compassionate doctors from Udhi Eye Hospitals, Chennai.

Printed notifications about the camp had been displayed in prominent places in the villages and the details were also verbally communicated to the residents, days in advance. The camp started at 10 AM and ended around 3 PM. Eight hospital staff arrived in the hospital van. About 30 Sai Youth brothers, including 10 village youth participated actively in the camp. There were 205 beneficiaries from more than 4 villages in the vicinity who registered at the registration booth.

Eye CampSix eye-specialists examined all the registered patients. Many were issued medicine and eye-drops to rectify minor eye complications. Corrective eye-glasses were prescribed and will be distributed to several others by Udhi Eye Hospitals during their follow-up visit on Friday, January 2nd 2009.

In addition to this, fifteen patients were identified to have a developed a cataract in their eyes and were advised a cataract procedure. After verifying their blood pressure and blood sugar levels, they were brought to Udhi Hospitals in Mylapore, Chennai on the same evening. Cataract surgery was performed on all the patients on Monday and they were dropped at their respective villages on Tuesday morning.

Narayana seva was also conducted for all villagers who were traveling to Chennai and all who volunteered in the camp

Villagers enquiring each other considerately and exchanging reassuring words was nothing but manifestations of Swami's love for all and His profound presence in all.

The youth returned after Mangala Aarathi to Bhagawan and instilling in themselves His words “God is the one who actually serves; yet He allows you to take credit for it.”
